How Burberry describes their latest lip colour range:
"Introducing Liquid Lip Velvet, a new statement-making matte cream colour with a comforting, whipped texture.Developed with a new, innovative formula that combines rich pigment, smooth application and a whipped, creamy texture to create a bold, velvet finish that lasts for up to eight hours. The comfortable, non-drying formula keeps lips supple and moisturised during wear, ensuring the colour does not dry, fade or crack.Available in our boldest palette, each of the 14 shades coats lips with a shot of saturated colour in one gliding movement.Joining the Lip Velvet collection, new Liquid Lip Velvet provides a light-as-air feeling and a cushion-soft sensation upon application."
The Liquid Lip Velvets have a doe foot applicator.
Colours & Finish
Brilliant Violet (No. 45) is a blue-toned, medium to dark orchid (purplish-pink) shade. This is my favourite of the two! LOVE. ^_^
Bright Plum (No. 49) is a deep, blue-toned plum.
All the liquid lip velvets have a velvety matte cream to satin finish.
(Note, you can also see how each shade looks on the lips on the official Burberry website, which is very useful!).
Pigmentation, Texture, Application & Longevity
After testing these, I find Burberry's claims/description of the product (above) to be fairly accurate in terms of colour pay off, texture and longevity. :-) Hoorah! The texture is certainly different from any other liquid lipsticks I've tried and in fact, I don't really think it should be called liquid in form at all (that's probably the only thing from Burberry that is inaccurate!) because it is not thin and runny as you would expect. Although, it is packaged and you apply it like other liquid lipsticks on the market. The texture is more of a lightweight, whipped cream. It's like they've taken a matte lipstick, melted it a bit (but not enough to make it completely liquid) and whisked it resulting in a light, whipped cream or mousse! (Sounds delish! LOL). When you apply it on the lips, it does feel cushiony indeed. It's packed full of colour so a little goes a long way. It gives full, even and smooth coverage and it feels super lightweight, comfortable, and because it has a creamy texture, it feels non-drying. The colour is so strong that it does leave a decent amount of stain on your lips after eating. Overall, very long wearing indeed. If I was super busy all day and didn't have time to reapply then I'd be confident that there is still a stain on my entire lips and it looks good (rather than just a ring of colour, which is not attractive at all). I would need to reapply in the evening if I needed to go out though, which is fine by me.
Comparison Swatches
Above are comparison swatches applied on my medium to tan, olive (~NC35) skin tone. Note, this was taken before the swatches dried down so they will appear a bit glossy and wet. Photographed indoors using a strobe. Brilliant Violet is lighter than By Terry Rouge-Expert Click in Orchid Alert (24), which is also a different formula and has a violet sheen to it. Bright Plum is blue-toned versus Chanel's red-toned Rouge Double Intensite in Milky Blueberry (102), but when you apply them side-by-side on my naturally blue-toned, pigmented lips, and because they are both quite deep in colour, you can barely notice the difference. Also, note that Chanel's did not apply as evenly when swatched, but does apply evenly and opaquely on the lips.

These have instantly become a staple in my handbag. Gorgeous colours and offers a unique texture in the liquid lipstick market with a formula that's lightweight, super-pigmented, comfortable and long-wearing. A must-have!
